Overview
The flashTimer includes two types of timers: Time based and non-time based. Both of these timers are used to count up or count down a specified amount of time.
The non-time based timer starts the timer fresh, every time the timer is viewed and the time based timer would be used to display the count up or count down time in relation to a specific date and time. You would use the non-time based timer for events such as a 10 second countdown, as this will display the 10 second countdown every time the counter is accessed, irrespective of the current date and time. The non-time based timer would also be used for timed events, such as competitions and for stopwatch functionality.
The time based timer would be used, for example, to countdown to a special event that is occurring on a specific date and at a specific time.
After installing this component (using Macromedia Extension Manager), you will find the flashTimer component in the components panel in Flash MX or Flash MX 2004, under the flashTimer category.
